Corruption and Financial Misconduct allegation against Betta Edu
Betta Edu, the former minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation allegedly issued a memo requesting the transfer of N585.2 million into a private bank account of a civil servant.
Allegations:
Diversion of N585.2 million ($640,000) of public money into a personal bank account of a civil servant.
Alleged involvement in the looting of N44 billion from the National Social Investment Programme Agency (NSIPA) fund.
Suspected money laundering and fraudulent dealings within the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation.
Misappropriation of funds intended for poverty alleviation and humanitarian aid for vulnerable Nigerians.
Potential involvement in a larger corruption scheme, as the EFCC is investigating over 50 bank accounts linked to the case.
