Corruption and Financial Misconduct allegation against Betta Edu

Betta Edu, the former minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation allegedly issued a memo requesting the transfer of N585.2 million into a private bank account of a civil servant.

Allegations:

• Diversion of N585.2 million ($640,000) of public money into a personal bank account of a civil servant.

• Alleged involvement in the looting of N44 billion from the National Social Investment Programme Agency (NSIPA) fund.

• Suspected money laundering and fraudulent dealings within the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation.

• Misappropriation of funds intended for poverty alleviation and humanitarian aid for vulnerable Nigerians.

• Potential involvement in a larger corruption scheme, as the EFCC is investigating over 50 bank accounts linked to the case.
